Admission for Methodist College Kuala Lumpur Students

Methodist College Kuala Lumpur (MCKL) is proud to announce that two of its students have gained conditional offers for admission to the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. Chen Jit Ern has an offer to study Natural Sciences (Biological) in St. John's College while Joyce Fong has an offer to study law in Corpus Christi College, University of Cambridge.

Both students are currently doing their GCE 'A-Level' course in MCKL and have been achieving outstanding academic results. If they obtain the required grades in their final semester in June, they will be starting their studies at the University of Cambridge in September 2006.

Besides their academic performance, both Jit Ern and Joyce have been actively involved in various extra-curricular activities. Jit Ern is the President of the College's Christian Fellowship and has actively participated in a number of social and community service activities. Joyce is Secretary of the Pre-U Society and also plays the piano and the violin. She holds a Grade 8 in pianoforte (practical) from the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music, U.K. Jit Ern and Joyce had their secondary school education at the Wesley Methodist School, Sentul where they obtained excellent results in the SPM examinations.

Other University Admission
This year many students have applied and successfully secured a number of offers to study in universities in the U.K., including conditional offers from Imperial College, University College London, University of Durham and University of Leeds. A listing of various offers the students have received to-date is shown in Table A.

Several students from the final year GCE 'A-Level' cohort have also applied to study medicine in U.K. universities. Seven of them have been selected to attend interviews before a decision is made on their admission. The students and the universities involved are as shown in Table B. Another student, Jeyaratnam Jeyaprakasam, has secured a conditional offer to study medicine in the International Medical College, Kuala Lumpur.

More offers are expected to be received in February and March, 2006. In addition students will also be applying to renowned universities in Australia, New Zealand, United States, Singapore, India, Hong Kong and Malaysia after the official 'A-Level' results are released

MCKL conducts the GCE 'A-Level' (Edexcel), Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT) and the LAN-approved Diploma in Early Childhood Education (Dip. ECE) courses. The next intake for GCE 'A-Level' and Dip.
