October 2006 - Shekinah Home For Needy Seniors

The TAC Methodist Women finally saw the fulfillment of a long awaited project. On 7th May 2006 the Dedication Service of the Shekinah Home for needy seniors took place.

First launched in August 1988 with Rev. John Kovilpillai making the initial donation to the fund, the WSCS (as Methodist Women were known then) rallied church members in the Districts and collected funds through brick cards, food sales, District level concerts and appeal letters.

Shekinah Home began with a rented house in March 2004. It was soon realized there was an urgent need for a bigger home and better facilities for the elderly women who needed love and care. And so the present home in Klang was purchased.

TAC President, Rev. P. Tevaraji, declared the Home opened at the Dedication Service. It was a memorable day for those who had come from far and wide to witness what they had donated put to good use in service of the poor and needy.

There are seven women at the Home. Bible study is conducted weekly there and transport provided for them to attend Sunday Service at TMC Klang. Singing and exercise are held weekly. A monthly health check is given by Dr. Daisy Rabindren from TMC Port Klang. Those who need regular treatment are taken to the Klang Government Clinic.

The women are happy and cheerful. We thank God that we can share His love in this way. May Shekinah Home continue and truly reflect the glory and presence of God among the needy seniors.

Love the Seniors. Visit Shekinah Home.
