We come to the close of another year. The Annual Conferences have met in November and looked backed on the year and their life and ministry in the church and in the world. There have been much to be thankful for; God's blessings have been evident in many programmes and lives of Methodists.

At the same time there have also been a looking ahead. Much needs abound both within the church and in society, both in the development and training of disciples for Christ and in providing Christian compassion for the most in need in our society. As the year draws to a close the challenges for the next year awaits us.

In the Christian calendar the Advent season is in fact the start of the Christian year. We are reminded of the giving and coming of our Lord Jesus who has made possible a new, totally different beginning for anyone who opens the heart to Him.

A truly blessed Christmas and happy New Year to all!
