About the Book
The Journal Once Lost attests God’s faithfulness and sovereign purposes. Containing extracts from more than 40 of John Sung’s diaries – miraculously recovered after they had gone missing for more than 18 years – it provides insights into the life of the Servant of God and his ministry. Between the pages are his prayers to God, his deliberations upon reading the Bible, and the testimonies of the wonderful works wrought by the Holy Spirit in the hearts of the people, the preachers as well as fellow believers. They also recount the experiences of his spiritual journey and the lessons he had learnt.

Dr John Sung, considered by many as one of the greatest Chinese evangelists who ever lived, had fought valiantly for the Lord Jesus Christ in China and Southeast Asia during the first half of the twentieth century. He brought powerful revival to the Chinese Church as no one had ever done before. His influence is felt even to this day.

According to Bishop Hwa Yung, Bishop of The Methodist Church in Malaysia, in his Foreword, John Sung’s ministry “hit the Chinese church like an earthquake. Tens of thousands found Christ, hundreds of churches were revived, and many were physically healed…May God use this book to fan the flames in the hearts of many people in the Asian church so that a mighty movement of God will take place…I most warmly commend it to your reading and prayerful reflection.”

Re-live the spiritual journey of one who:
• Cast aside his status and worldly possessions
• Unflinchingly spread the Word of God to the lost
• Drove out evil spirits and healed the sick
• Delivered forceful sermons that turned thousands to God
• Challenged and rekindled the hearts of believers

By reading about his joys and sufferings, strengths and weaknesses, failures and successes, painstakingly recorded in these diaries, you will realize that John Sung was preoccupied with only one concern in his life: to see the multitudes repent, be born again and achieve holiness. May his passion and calling inspire every believer to pursue the same.
