Preparations are underway for the 9th Session General Conference in September. According to Mr Tung Kam Seng, the GC Secretary, this gathering will have two events of note besides the usual business matters of the General Conference.
The first is the celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the autonomy of the Methodist Church. In 1968 it became a separate General Conference from the United Methodist Church, USA, known then as the Methodist Church in Malaysia and Singapore.
The second is a series of four workshops that covers various aspects of the life of the Methodist Church. These are (i) Evangelism & Church Planting, (ii) Discipleship (Prayer, Bible Study, Holy Living, Small Groups, etc.), (iii) Church & Society, and (iv) Missions.
More information will be forthcoming. Let us uphold this gathering as Methodists discuss and decide on matters of importance and strategic to the growth of the Church and its fulfillment of the purposes of God.
