The current situation in the Middle East is really sad because of the senseless loss of life involving civilians from both sides of the Lebanese-Israeli border.
Any attempt to help find a solution to the conflict deserves to be supported. More importantly, any effort to provide humanitarian aid to the victims of the conflict should be given a helping hand.
In response to the unfolding tragedy in Lebanon, the Council of Churches calls upon all churches:
To pray for and to take special offerings in order to support the humanitarian relief work that is urgently required by those affected by the on-going conflict.
Under the banner of ACT International, foreign and local relief volunteers are working with Lebanese and UN officials to ensure that aid gets to communities as fast as possible.
Cheques should be made out to
"Council of Churches of Malaysia"
and the words "Lebanon Relief Fund" written behind the cheque.
