August 2006 - TMC Banting “Mission Night 2006”

The poverty stricken life, dilapidated dwellings with no basic amenities and infrastructures moved our hearts to lend a helping hand to the Bonggis of Pulau Banggi in Sabah. Mission work has started among the Bonggis to meet their needs and introduce Christ to this people group. Mission Nite 2006 was organized by the Missions Committee of TMC Banting to raise funds to meet the Bonggis' immediate needs which are:

(a) A kitchen for the parsonage.
(b) A boat for their transport

The MMM of TAC also plays an active role in the mission work among the Bonggis. On the evening of 14 May, Dewan Emkay (MES School) became a hive of activity when 300 over people gathered to support this great fund raising event. Our Selangor District Superintendent Rev. Dr. John Kovilpillai, Mrs. Jean Kovilpillai, Rev. Vinsant Rayar (MMM), Rev. Sandireaseheran (MMM Secretary) and Father Michel from Banting Catholic Church graced the occasion with their presence. Our DS Rev. John Kovilpillai launched the TMC Banting Mission Fund for the glory of God.

The evening's programme began with a grand entry of marchers - carrying flags, followed by the welcome and a time of praise & worship. Rev. Vinsant Rayar was on target when he challenged the church to 'Go and make disciples of all nations'. The highlight of the night was the LCD Presentation by Rev. Sandireaseheran giving a brief, vivid picture of the utmost poverty and lifestyle of the Bonggis. It touched the hearts of the people present. Many were moved to contribute toward this worthy project.

The audience was entertained with cross cultural presentations by various groups - the Myanmarese, Nepalese, Punjabis and Tamils. It was amazing to see their love and enthusiasm for Jesus Christ. The items were a colorful combination of graceful dances, melodious songs, poem recitals and skits all in keeping with the theme 'Go and make disciples of all nations'. The whole programme not only captivated the audience but also brought greater mission awareness.

The curtains came down with singing in unison the challenging song "Nadellam selvoom ...natseithi sollvoom..." (“We will go to all nations and tell the good news”). We thank all the sponsors and individuals who contributed towards this worthy project. We appreciate our Pastor Rev. Jevaretnam for his missionary vision and our former Pastor Rev. Devadass Ratnam who brought awareness on missions to the members of TMC Banting. The Mission Fund that has been launched will be an ongoing project to meet the needs of people groups prior to bringing them the salvation of Jesus Christ.

PRAISE BE TO GOD!
